Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to schools in England to help improve the educational outcomes of disadvantaged students. The funding is designed to support pupils who are eligible for free school meals, children in care, and children from service families. At St Ursula's Convent School, we are committed to ensuring that all of our pupils, regardless of background, have the opportunity to succeed and achieve their potential.

Who is Eligible for Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium funding is available for pupils who fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Free School Meals (FSM): Pupils who are currently eligible for free school meals or have been eligible in the past 6 years.
  • Looked After Children (LAC): Pupils who are in the care of the local authority.
  • Post-Looked After Children: Pupils who have been adopted from care or who have a special guardianship order or a residence order.
  • Service Children: Pupils who have parents in the armed forces.

How Do We Use the Pupil Premium?

At St Ursula’s, we take a tailored approach to ensure that the Pupil Premium funding has the greatest impact on each student. We use the funding to:

  • Provide targeted support: Additional support for learning, such as one-to-one tutoring, small group interventions, and differentiated classroom teaching.
  • Enhance enrichment opportunities: Funding extracurricular activities, trips, and clubs to broaden pupils’ experiences and build skills outside of the classroom.
  • Provide resources: Ensuring all pupils have the necessary tools to fully engage with their education.
  • Support emotional well-being: Offering pastoral support to improve students’ mental health, confidence, and resilience.

Impact of Pupil Premium

We carefully monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Pupil Premium funding. We track the progress of pupils who receive additional support and adjust our strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes. Our goal is to close the achievement gap and help all students reach their full potential.
